Strike Percussion Video and Photos

After listening to the performance, Room 8 had a workshop with one of the group members.
We learned four different parts and put them together to make a  piece of music.










Strike Percussion Group

On Thursday we had a visit from Strike Percussion group. They performed a show in the hall for the whole school using tuned and untuned percussion instruments.

Celebration

On Friday, Jasmine received a certificate at our school assembly. She earned it for 'awesome problem solving and teamwork in our technology challenge'. Well done, Jasmine.

Our Edible Gardens



Today was an exciting enviro day with Mrs Daniel. Our focus this term has been growing food. This afternoon we got explore the new edible garden area and plant the pumpkin, bean and pea plants they we've grown from seeds. We also found garden helpers like worms and ladybugs on our adventure. It was muddy, but super fun too.

Art Gallery Trip

Yesterday we went to the Auckland Art Gallery. We looked at some paintings and sculptures and discussed what story, emotions and feelings the artist might have been trying to share with us.

Back at class we discussed 'what is Art?' and the question, 
"If anyone can make art, is everyone an artist?"

Basic Facts Average

This week our Basic Facts class average for the Friday test was a new high of 83!

Teach The Teacher

Today for Teach The Teacher, Kiralee demonstrated a science experiment with lemons. She used cut lemons, food colouring, dishwashing liquid and baking soda to make some foamy volcanoes.




Celebration

Today Daniel W received a certificate at our school assembly. He earned it for 'working hard to learn his spelling words'. Well done, Daniel.

Writing & Reading


Today we made a piece of art in response to a piece of writing that we have studied.

The passage of writing has similes, metaphor, strong verbs and alliteration. It is about a man who is running away from some ants.

We discussed how the writing helps a reader to make a picture in their head of what is happening. Then we drew what we thought it could look like.
