Water Safety
Water safety was my favourite activity. First our group sat on the blue wooden seat. Our instructor was called Julie. She called us over and handed us our life jackets. The size I got was small. Then Julie made sure our life jacket was tight enough so we could swim. She told us to go in the deep cold pool.
Afterwards she paired us up. I was excited. Amy and I were a pair. I was at the front pulling Amy. When Amy and I swam to the end of the pool we changed around. When we all swam back we climbed in the boat. After we all got in the boat Julie asked anybody if they wanted to flip backwards. Everybody did it expect one person.
Afterwards, we pushed Shavaun up on the boat and Shavaun pulled Keeley up. Then they pulled us up on the boat. When we hopped out of the boat our group went to the next activity. Our next activity was kayaking and that was very fun too.

Kayaking

Kayaking
I heard that it was kayaking! I shouted, "YAY!" The instructor was called Dawn. We sat down on some blue stools. Dawn told us to line up in front of the green paddle bin. Next in kayaking, we practiced rowing with our paddles. My paddle was blue. Dawn told us to scoop and twist the paddle.
She firmly said to sit down on the blue stools. Her instructions were now to capsize the yellow and orange kayak. She said, “Can I please have two volunteers to capsize the boat?” Dawn chose Noah and me. So my mum and Keeley's dad hopped into the greenish blueish pool. Noah and I hopped into the kayak. We rocked the kayak back and forth Then all sudden the boat tipped.
Dawn chose two people at a time to hop into the kayaks. Someone in our group didn't want to have a go. Dawn told us to stick the paddle into the kayak. Dawn pushed us out really hard. It was fun getting pushed out really hard. I started to paddle it took a long time to finish. Which I was hoping for. But after a while my hands got sore when Dawn said it was time up I was sad. I didn't want to finish kayaking.

Kayaking
Did you know that we went to the AUT Millennium Center yesterday? There were four activities:
1) Team Building
2) Snorkeling
3) Kayaking
4) Water Safety
But I’m here to tell you about kayaking since that activity was my favourite.
It was lunch time and I couldn’t wait until lunch finished and then I could go Kayaking. When I first got there I was bored about capsizing and that was about thirty minutes! Oh, by the way, capsizing is the more specific way for saying falling out of a kayak or canoe!
Next we went in a kayak and paddled in a circle. I kept on crashing into the other kayaks! It was fun! I can’t wait to go next year!

The Water Cycle
We are starting to look at WATER for our Topic work.
Here is a repetitive but catchy song with some of the key vocabulary to do with the water cycle.

Snorkeling
Snorkeling
On the 9th of March 2016 we all went to the AUT Millennium Center. My group number was Group 3.
When we all got to the pool my group did snorkeling. I was excited because I love snorkeling! Our instructor Diane helped us put on our flippers and snorkels.
Then we got into the pool and went under water and got used to wearing a snorkel. Then we went diving for rings and we had a free swim. I tried to touch the bottom. It was very deep.
A few minutes later we had to go to Team Building.I had fun snorkeling!

Kayaking
My group was group 4. Our teacher Dawn, gave us each a double-bladed spoon-shaped paddle. We learnt how to use the awesome spoon paddle.
After the lesson of how to paddle, our teacher gathered us up to do capsizing. First I didn’t know what capsizing was, but it was obvious it was rocking the kayak until we fell out.
Finally Dawn launched all the kayaks. They were like rockets. It was harder than I thought it would be.
Water safety
Julie was our water safety teacher. She said, “Hop in the water,’’ and we grabbed the edge.
First we learnt how to swim backstroke, doggie paddle and froggie style without the leg moves.
After that we hopped in the inflatable life boat. Then we fell off like a parachute. We climbed back on as if we were rock climbing into the inflatable life boat.

Half Of It
Today in Maths our challenge was to rule a line across (left to right) a blank page, half way down the page. The page was longer than our ruler. There was a great deal of guessing and discussion on how best to do this.
We learned that measuring accurately was very important and harder than we first thought.
